Pragpur, Jan 25 (NationPress) In celebration of the statehood day, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Sukhu declared the formation of an agriculture and horticulture commission aimed at ensuring the involvement of farmers and orchardists while protecting their rights. He confirmed that a Bill for establishing this commission will be introduced in the forthcoming Budget Session of the Assembly.
During the flag-hoisting ceremony, the Chief Minister received the salute from parade contingents commanded by officer Taruna. Extending his congratulations to the citizens, CM Sukhu paid tribute to the efforts of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and the inaugural Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Dr Y.S. Parmar, in achieving statehood.
The Chief Minister also revealed plans to establish a Sub-divisional Magistrate (SDM) office in Pragpur alongside a Public Health Centre in Nalsuha, within the Jaswan assembly constituency. He noted that upon taking office, the previous administration had left liabilities exceeding Rs 10,000 crore related to salary and pension arrears for employees.
Currently, the total outstanding arrears for salaries, pensions, and other dues stand at Rs 8,555 crore. Despite the state's challenging financial circumstances, he announced that full payment for pensioners and family pensioners aged 70 years and above would be disbursed in January, with an allocation of Rs 90 crore for this purpose.
The Chief Minister mentioned that Class IV employees who retired between January 1, 2016, and December 31, 2021, are owed gratuity and leave encashment arrears due to pension revisions. He stated that an additional 50 percent of the gratuity arrears and 70 percent of the leave encashment arrears will be disbursed in January, costing Rs 96 crore.
CM Sukhu emphasized that this occasion offers a chance to evaluate the accomplishments of the past 55 years and to contemplate the future direction of the state. To this end, the government is developing a document titled 'Samriddh Himachal Vision', which is nearing completion. He indicated that this vision document will be crafted through extensive discussions with citizens, experts, the administration, and institutions.
While drafting the document, careful attention will be paid to the state's environment, the aspirations of its diligent populace, and its rich social traditions. The ultimate goal is to encourage development that is environmentally sustainable, disaster-resilient, and inclusive for all segments of society, he concluded.
