Shimla, Oct 19 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, made a special visit to the Tutikandi Bal Ashram on Sunday to celebrate Diwali, the festival of lights, alongside the ashram's inmates.

Upon arrival, the Chief Minister was greeted warmly by the children and staff, who showcased traditional earthen lamps and vibrant cultural performances.

During his visit, he engaged with the children, distributing sweets and gifts, and conveyed his heartfelt Diwali wishes to them.

In an official statement, the Chief Minister expressed, "The true spirit of Diwali lies in sharing joy, compassion, and togetherness. These children represent our future, and it is our collective duty to ensure they are nurtured with love, dignity, and opportunities."

He emphasized that the state government has embraced orphaned children as the "children of the state", covering their educational expenses and providing them with Rs 4,000 monthly as pocket money.

Additionally, he revealed plans to enhance the residential facilities in Bal Ashrams across the state, along with improving other amenities.

CM Sukhu also announced forthcoming welfare initiatives specifically targeting orphans and vulnerable children to ensure their comprehensive development.

He declared that an annual sports day would be organized for the Bal Ashram children on November 14, with adequate budgetary support from the state government.

Moreover, plans are in place to send Bal Ashram students on educational trips outside the state to enrich their exposure and learning experiences.

He encouraged the children to concentrate on their studies, aiming to serve the nation in various capacities and bring pride to the state.

Present at this event were Mayor Surinder Chauhan, Deputy Mayor Uma Kaundal, Women and Child Welfare Director Pankaj Lalit, and Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap.
