Ahmedabad, April 7 (NationPress) To facilitate energy supply for nearly 60 million households, Rajasthan Part I Power Transmission Limited, a subsidiary of Adani Energy Solutions Ltd (AESL), has entrusted a significant contract to a consortium of Hitachi Energy and Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL).
This contract involves the consortium's design and delivery of high-voltage direct current (HVDC) terminals aimed at transmitting renewable energy from the Bhadla region in Rajasthan to the industrial center in Fatehpur, Uttar Pradesh.
The 6 gigawatt (GW), 950 km HVDC link is capable of powering about 60 million households in India, as reported by the company.
“By facilitating the efficient evacuation of renewable energy and integrating it into the national grid, AESL is vital in India's decarbonisation efforts. We will implement cutting-edge technology and practices to ensure timely project delivery with minimal environmental impact,” stated Kandarp Patel, CEO of AESL.
This project contributes to India's ambitious goal of achieving 500 GW of renewable evacuation and interstate transmission capacity. The 800 kilovolt (kV), 6 GW bi-pole and bi-directional HVDC terminals will assist in transferring energy from the renewable sources in Bhadla.
“A robust HVDC system is critical for bi-directional power flow management and grid stability that underpin the swift integration of renewable energy into India's grid. We are proud to participate in another significant HVDC transmission initiative in the country,” commented Niklas Persson, Managing Director of Business Unit Grid Integration at Hitachi Energy.
“Our HVDC technology is set to be instrumental in establishing a sustainable and dependable power system, aligning with India's Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) for both mid- and long-term energy objectives,” he added.
The scope of the Bhadla project encompasses converter transformers, AC/DC control and protection, thyristor valves, 765 kV/400 kV grid connections, and auxiliary systems, which will be provided by Hitachi Energy and its partner BHEL.
Recently, Adani Energy Solutions confirmed a share purchase agreement (SPA) with REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL) to acquire 100% equity shares of Mahan Transmission Limited (MTL).
MTL is set to transmit 1,230 megawatts of power from Adani Power Ltd.'s impending 1,600 MW expansion units at Mahan in the Singrauli district of Madhya Pradesh and integrate it into the state grid, as per a stock exchange disclosure.
Earlier, AESL secured a Rs 2,800 crore power transmission project in Gujarat. This project aims to deliver green energy within 36 months for the production of Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia in Mundra. This marks Adani Energy Solutions' sixth contract win this fiscal year, raising its order book to Rs 57,561 crore.
