Key Takeaways
Hyderabad, Feb 17 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Telangana, A. Revanth Reddy, remarked on Tuesday that Hyderabad possesses the capability to evolve from the global vaccine capital to the epicenter of life sciences worldwide.
While inaugurating BioAsia 2026 alongside IT & Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu, he emphasized that this annual event exemplifies Hyderabad's achievements as a prominent hub for life sciences.
He expressed optimism that BioAsia would gain recognition akin to the World Economic Forum held in Davos.
The Chief Minister underscored Telangana's distinct advantages that will facilitate its transformation from a global vaccine powerhouse to a leader in life sciences, including a robust vision, well-defined policies, an abundance of highly skilled professionals, and leading educational institutions.
Hyderabad is recognized as a premier center for Global Capability Centres (GCCs), excelling in research and design.
He highlighted several recent initiatives, such as the unveiling of the Telangana Next-Gen Life Sciences Policy at Davos, the expansion of Genome Valley, the introduction of 1Bio for cutting-edge research and innovation, the advancement of Green Pharma City, and the establishment of multiple global capability centers in Hyderabad.
"In the past two years, we have attracted investments exceeding Rs 73,000 crore in life sciences," he stated.
Hyderabad stands out as a prime location for setting up GCCs, fostering innovation, designing molecules and drugs, managing clinical analytics, creating AI platforms, and advancing digital manufacturing.
Given the impressive turnout at BioAsia from across the globe, the Chief Minister suggested that the conference might evolve beyond its current name to become Bio-World.
He emphasized the presence of leading thinkers and business moguls in pharmaceuticals, biosciences, biotech, bulk drugs, vaccines, and healthcare in Hyderabad.
He asserted that Hyderabad has established a reliable, stable, and future-ready ecosystem. "From bulk drugs to biologics, from manufacturing to innovation, Telangana is elevating its position on the value chain," he stated.
Minister Sridhar Babu added that the state aims for $25 billion in life sciences investments and the creation of 500,000 jobs by 2030, with a strategic plan to rank Telangana among the top three life sciences clusters globally. "Telangana is transitioning from supply-driven manufacturing to solution-oriented global leadership by developing a ready-to-work talent pool in mRNA, gene editing, and AI-driven drug discovery while reinforcing Hyderabad as a center for next-gen innovation and medical tourism," he mentioned.
BioAsia 2026 witnessed participation from over 4,000 delegates representing 500 leading companies within the life sciences ecosystem worldwide.
The Chief Minister awarded Prof. Bruce Levine from the University of Pennsylvania with the Genome Valley Excellence Award.
