Hyderabad, Aug 19 (NationPress) - The Income Tax Department executed raids on Tuesday at the properties linked to Congress leader and former MP G. Ranjith Reddy, alongside the DSR Group of companies.
These coordinated searches took place at around 30 sites in Hyderabad and Bengaluru early Tuesday, stemming from an investigation into allegations of tax evasion.
The I-T officials targeted the DSR Group headquarters located in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad. Additional searches were reported in prominent areas such as Banjara Hills, SR Nagar, and Suraram, according to sources.
Searches included the premises of DSR Infrastructure Pvt Ltd, DSR Infra Projects, DSR Constructions, DSR Prime Spaces, and DSR Infra Developers.
The investigation also extended to the residences and offices of DSR Group's Managing Directors Devireddy Sudhakar Reddy, Executive Director Devireddy Prabhakar Reddy, and others.
Officials reportedly confiscated documents, accounting records, and various devices as part of their inquiry into suspected concealed income and irregularities in property dealings.
The raids also covered Ranjith Reddy's residence and office, conducted under stringent security measures.
A former MP representing the Chevella constituency, Ranjith Reddy is believed to have ties with the DSR Group, which operates within the real estate sector. He is reported to have financial interactions with DSR Prime Spaces, DSR Infra Developers, and other affiliates of the group.
Ranjith Reddy was elected to the Lok Sabha from Chevella on a Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) ticket in 2019 but transitioned to Congress shortly before the last Lok Sabha elections. Although he ran as a Congress candidate, he was unable to reclaim his seat.
With declared assets amounting to Rs 435 crore in his election affidavit, Ranjith Reddy stood out as one of the wealthiest MPs.
