Kozhikode, May 16 (NationPress) The Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIMK) has proudly completed the sixth iteration of its Book Donation Programme, contributing over 17,500 books valued at Rs 1.05 crore to 35 colleges across 11 districts in Kerala.
This initiative, part of the institute's persistent corporate social responsibility (CSR) endeavors, saw enthusiastic involvement from more than 200 students and faculty members from the recipient institutions on Thursday.
Every participating college received approximately 500 books valued at Rs 3 lakh, encompassing a broad range of academic disciplines including Economics, Management, Accounting, Commerce, Marketing, Operations Research, Quantitative Methods, Organisational Behaviour, Human Resource Management, Business Ethics, Information Technology, and Literature.
The books were meticulously selected by IIMK's esteemed faculty and generously donated by students as part of the donation initiative led by Nalanda – The Library and Information Centre at IIMK.
The event was graced by Debashis Chatterjee, the Director of IIM Kozhikode, who is the visionary behind this CSR outreach that commenced in 2011.
Chatterjee remarked, "IIMK's Book Donation Programme aims to cultivate 'social reputation' through tangible social relevance. We prioritize being accountable to the communities we serve. Knowledge shared is knowledge multiplied, and we aspire for the beneficiaries of this initiative to eventually pay it forward," stated the Director of IIM Kozhikode.
He praised Kerala's rich literary heritage and the vibrant engagement from various regions of the state, including three women's colleges from Kozhikode, Kannur, Malappuram, Wayanad, Kasaragod, Palakkad, Thrissur, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, and Thiruvananthapuram.
Since its inception in 2011, IIMK's Book Donation Programme has successfully distributed over 70,000 books worth Rs 4.5 crore to educational institutions throughout Kerala, reinforcing the institute's dedication to education equity, grassroots involvement, and knowledge democratization.
Established by the Indian government in 1996, IIMK was the fifth IIM and began its academic journey in 1997 with its flagship Postgraduate Program.
IIMK is ranked third in the NIRF India Rankings 2024.
