Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 11 (NationPress) In a heartwarming act of compassion during a devastating time, the family of Isaac George, a 33-year-old from Kottarakkara, made the profound choice to donate his organs after he was declared brain dead due to a tragic road accident.

This selfless decision has provided a second chance at life to six individuals across Kerala, transforming Isaac’s legacy into one of hope and humanity.

Isaac’s heart was successfully transplanted into a 28-year-old patient at Lissy Hospital in Ernakulam.

His kidneys, liver, and corneas were also allocated to critically ill patients in various hospitals in Thiruvananthapuram.

The Kerala State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (K-SOTTO) expertly coordinated the process, ensuring that the life-saving organs were delivered to recipients in an impressive timeframe.

This remarkable operation showcased incredible teamwork. Following the instructions of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, the state Home Department provided a helicopter on Thursday to rapidly transport Isaac’s heart to Ernakulam, while the police ensured clear roads for the other organs.

“Even in death, Isaac became a source of life. His family's decision will encourage many to consider organ donation,” stated Health Minister Veena George, who honored Isaac's memory and conveyed condolences to his sorrowing family.

Isaac, who owned a small restaurant near Pallimukku in Kottarakkara, suffered a tragic accident on September 6 when a motorcycle struck him while he was crossing the street.

Despite receiving prompt medical attention and being rushed to a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram, his condition deteriorated, and doctors confirmed brain death on September 10.

It was then that his family, amidst their profound grief, bravely chose to donate his organs.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Mariam Sam, their two-year-old daughter, Amelia Nancy Isaac, and his mother, Maryamma George.

His father, C.Y. Georgekutty, had previously passed away.

His funeral will take place on September 13 at his ancestral home in Charuvila, Bathal. For the recipients and their families, Isaac’s generous gift is nothing short of miraculous.

For Kerala, his story serves as a poignant reminder of the extraordinary power of selflessness—how one life lost can provide many others the chance to live.
