Jaipur, February 11 (NationPress) The special forces of India and Egypt have initiated the ‘Cyclone III’ exercise at the Mahajan Field Firing Ranges in Rajasthan on Tuesday.
An official stated that this exercise will wrap up on February 23.
“The ‘Cyclone’ exercise is an annual event held alternately in India and Egypt. The previous edition took place in Egypt in January 2024.
The Indian contingent, consisting of 25 personnel, is made up of troops from two Special Forces Battalions. The Egyptian contingent, also comprising 25 personnel, will be represented by the Special Forces Group and Task Force of the Egyptian Special Forces.
The primary objective of this exercise is to enhance the military-to-military relationship between the two nations through improved interoperability, jointness, and sharing of special operations tactics.
“The focus of the exercise lies in achieving a high level of physical fitness, joint planning, and tactical drills. The drills will include advanced special forces skills alongside various tactics, techniques, and procedures in line with the current operational framework,” the official explained.
According to the official, the exercise will culminate in a 48-hour validation to rehearse the tactical drills for counterterrorism operations in desert and semi-desert environments.
“Additionally, the exercise will showcase indigenous military equipment and provide an overview of the defence manufacturing industry to the Egyptian participants,” the official added.
He emphasized that the exercise will facilitate the sharing of best practices in tactics, techniques, and procedures for executing tactical operations.
“This exercise also fosters camaraderie and friendship among soldiers from both armies,” he stated.
The official further noted that the exercise aims to enhance interoperability, exchange best practices, and boost the operational readiness of both forces in conducting joint counter-terrorist operations.
“This collaborative exercise symbolizes the commitment of both nations to global peace and security, enhancing their capabilities to tackle evolving security challenges both in the region and beyond,” the official concluded.
