Tokyo, Dec 12 (NationPress) India's Ambassador-designate to Japan, Nagma Mohamad Mallick, met with Uno Yoshimasa, the Special Advisor to the Prime Minister of Japan, on Friday to explore avenues for bilateral collaboration.
The Indian Embassy in Japan announced via X, "Ambassador-designate H.E. Ms. Nagma M. Mallick met with Special Advisor to the Prime Minister of Japan H.E. Uno Yoshimasa to discuss opportunities for India-Japan collaboration."
Earlier, Mallick also engaged with Yamaguchi Governor Tsugimasa Muraoka and Yamaguchi Prefectural Assembly Speaker Shungaku Yanai on Wednesday, focusing on enhancing ties, particularly in Yamaguchi Prefecture.
The meeting also included members of the Prefectural Assembly: Kenji Niki, Kenjiro Nishimoto, and Shinji Sakamoto, who are key figures in the India-ASEAN regional Friendship and Economic Exchange Promotion League. They discussed strategies to fortify India-Japan relations, specifically regarding Yamaguchi Prefecture.
To promote these ties, the Indian Embassy and Yamaguchi Prefecture organized a business seminar aimed at enlightening participants about India’s impressive growth trajectory and potential synergies between India and Yamaguchi.
During her opening remarks, Mallick emphasized areas of mutual benefit between Yamaguchi and India, with Governor Muroka acknowledging the Embassy's efforts in arranging this outreach event.
Speaker of the Prefecture Assembly, Shungaku Yanai, highlighted the formation of a new India-Japan friendship association in the Yamaguchi Prefectural Assembly. A business presentation titled 'Business Environment and Investment Opportunities in India' was delivered by Ms. Debjani Chakrabarti, Minister (Economic and Commerce) from the Embassy of India. Additionally, Mr. Haranobu Hara from the Global Strategy Team at JETRO provided insights on 'India’s business environment and trends among Japanese companies.'
Meanwhile, on Thursday, the Indian Embassy and members of the Indian community celebrated the recent inclusion of Deepavali in the UNESCO representative list of intangible cultural heritage of humanity.
"Deepavali Goes Global!" the Indian Embassy in Tokyo and the Indian diaspora celebrated this significant achievement. Shri R. Madhu Sudan, Deputy Chief of Mission, addressed attendees while the celebration featured cultural performances from the Indian community.
UNESCO officially announced this milestone on its X handle, stating: "BREAKING. New inscription on the Intangible Heritage List: Deepavali, India. Congratulations!"
