Tokyo, Feb 17 (NationPress) The newly appointed Indian Ambassador to Japan, Nagma Mallick, engaged in discussions with Japan's Minister for Internal Affairs, Hayashi Yoshimasa, on Tuesday, highlighting the strong and expanding collaboration between India and Japan across various sectors.
Following their meeting, the Indian Embassy in Japan shared on X, "Ambassador Nagma M. Mallick met with Japan's Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications Hayashi Yoshimasa today. They conversed about the strong and expanding collaboration between our countries in all domains."
On Saturday, External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar had discussions with his counterparts from the G4 nations during the Munich Security Conference 2026 in Germany. The G4 consists of Japan, India, Germany, and Brazil.
"A G4 meeting of India, Germany, Japan, and Brazil was held to discuss reformed multilateralism, marking the first time it occurred on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference," EAM Jaishankar tweeted after the meeting.
Earlier, on February 8, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated his Japanese counterpart, Sanae Takaichi, on her "significant victory" in the snap elections, expressing optimism for the India-Japan partnership to reach "greater heights."
"Congratulations to Sanae Takaichi on her significant victory in the elections to the House of Representatives! Our Special Strategic and Global Partnership is crucial for enhancing global peace, stability, and prosperity. I am confident that under your capable leadership, we will elevate the India-Japan friendship to new heights," PM Modi stated in a post on X.
Previously, PM Modi had a bilateral meeting with PM Takaichi during the G20 Summit in Johannesburg on November 23 last year, where they explored ways to boost cooperation in areas such as innovation, defense, and talent mobility.
"I had a fruitful meeting with Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi of Japan. We examined ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in fields like innovation, defense, and talent mobility. We are also aiming to strengthen trade relations between our two nations. A robust India-Japan partnership is essential for a better world," PM Modi remarked on his post on X.
