New Delhi, Feb 18 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Kazakh counterpart Olzhas Bektenov convened on Wednesday to assess collaborative efforts in several domains, such as political relations, trade, defense and security, connectivity, energy, emerging technologies, and people-to-people interactions.
During their meeting on the sidelines of the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, PM Modi commended Bektenov for participating in the summit, highlighting the mutual commitment of both countries to harness technology for social welfare and economic development.

The leaders evaluated existing cooperation across various sectors, reaffirming their commitment to political, trade, defense, security, connectivity, energy, emerging technologies, and people-to-people ties.
In a recent meeting, Kazakhstan Ambassador Azamat Yeskarayev spoke with senior MEA official Bina George, where they discussed ongoing issues related to bilateral cooperation and the potential for strengthening inter-ministerial dialogue.
“During the discussion, the Kazakh diplomat updated the Indian representatives on key political and institutional reforms in Kazakhstan. Emphasis was placed on constitutional amendments aimed at reinforcing the balance of powers, curtailing presidential authority, enhancing the Parliament's role, expanding local governance mandates, bolstering judicial independence, and institutionalizing human rights protections. The establishment of the Vice-President role was noted as a significant advancement for public governance stability and effectiveness,” stated the Kazakh Embassy following the meeting.
“These reforms are intended to foster transparency and accountability, uphold the rule of law, and enhance the welfare and rights of citizens. Their ongoing implementation is vital for improving Kazakhstan's international stature and expanding avenues for mutually beneficial collaboration with global partners, including India,” it further explained.
Both parties also shared insights on current consular issues, focusing on safeguarding the rights and interests of citizens. The Indian side expressed a desire to bolster practical cooperation and the possibility of organizing consular consultations.
