New Delhi, April 16 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared on Thursday that India and Austria will enhance their collaboration in the realms of defence, semiconductors, quantum technology, and biotechnology.
During a joint press conference with visiting Austrian Chancellor Christian Stocker, PM Modi emphasized that the partnership will facilitate reliable technology and supply chains globally by merging Austria's expertise with India's speed and scale.
"India and Austria have consistently been dependable allies in infrastructure, innovation, and sustainability. Projects like the Delhi Metro and the Atal Tunnel showcase Austria’s impressive tunnelling skills... From green energy to urban development, Austrian firms have significantly influenced India's engineering initiatives," he remarked.
"Chancellor Stocker’s visit will invigorate trade and investment. We are pleased that he has arrived in India with a broad vision and a substantial business delegation. By fusing Austria's expertise with India's speed and scale, we will ensure dependable technology and supply chains globally, while also bolstering our partnership in defence, semiconductors, quantum technology, and biotechnology," added the Prime Minister.
Welcoming the Austrian Chancellor warmly, PM Modi expressed his delight that Stocker chose India for his inaugural visit outside Europe.
"We are delighted that India is your first stop outside of Europe. This signifies your strong commitment to your vision and to fortifying India–Austria relations. The Austrian Chancellor’s visit to India marks a significant milestone after four decades. Following the India–European Union Free Trade Agreement, we are embarking on a new chapter in India–EU relations. Chancellor Stocker's visit signifies a new era for India–Austria ties," he stated.
He revealed that both nations will advance mobility in the nursing sector and initiate a Working Holiday Programme to foster youth exchange.
"India’s talent can substantially boost Austria’s innovation and productivity. In 2023, we formalized a Migration and Mobility Agreement with Austria. Under this arrangement, we will promote mobility in the nursing sector, while enhancing joint research and startup collaboration. To encourage youth exchange, we are launching the India–Austria Working Holiday Programme," he added.
Addressing the need for reform in global institutions amidst ongoing global tensions, PM Modi remarked: "The world is currently experiencing a severe and tense situation. Its repercussions are felt universally. In this challenging global atmosphere, India and Austria concur that military conflict is not a viable solution. Be it in Ukraine or West Asia, we advocate for stable, sustainable, and lasting peace. We are also united in our belief that reforming global institutions is crucial for tackling escalating global challenges, and eradicating terrorism remains our shared commitment."
