In a message on X, PM Modi stated, "I warmly congratulate Christian Stocker on being sworn in as Austria's Federal Chancellor. The India-Austria Enhanced Partnership is set to progress steadily in the forthcoming years."

He expressed hope for augmenting bilateral collaboration, adding, "I am eager to cooperate with you to elevate our mutually beneficial partnership to new heights."

India and Austria have enjoyed strong diplomatic relations since 1949, marking 70 years of bilateral ties in 2019. Over the years, both nations have prioritized strengthening their partnership through high-level official visits.

In September 2021, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla visited Vienna to attend the 5th World Conference of Speakers of Parliament. Earlier, in February 2019, Austria's then-Minister of Foreign Affairs, Karin Kneissl, visited India to commemorate the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations, meeting with her Indian counterpart Sushma Swaraj.

With Stocker now in charge, both nations are anticipated to continue nurturing their enduring diplomatic and economic ties.
