New Delhi, March 20 (NationPress) On Friday, India provided a significant 2.5-tonne shipment consisting of emergency medical supplies, disposables, kits, and equipment to Afghanistan. This delivery aims to assist in treating those affected by Pakistan's recent assault on a hospital in Kabul.

According to Randhir Jaiswal, spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), India remains committed to extending humanitarian aid to Afghanistan during this challenging period.

"In response to the devastating attack on March 16, which resulted in numerous injuries, India has sent a 2.5-tonne shipment of emergency medical supplies to Kabul. We stand in solidarity with the Afghan population and will continue our humanitarian efforts during this critical time," Jaiswal announced on X.

This assistance comes after a Pakistani airstrike targeted the Omid Addiction Treatment Hospital—a facility with 2,000 beds—located in Kabul’s Pul-e-Charkhi area, resulting in over 400 fatalities and more than 250 injuries.

On the following day, India condemned the airstrikes carried out by Pakistan on the hospital and rehabilitation center in Kabul, denouncing Islamabad's attempts to portray a massacre as a military operation.

The MEA firmly stated, "This cowardly and unconscionable act of violence has resulted in the deaths of many civilians in a facility that cannot be justified as a military target. Pakistan is attempting to disguise a massacre as a military operation."

India characterized the Pakistani aggression as a blatant violation of Afghanistan's sovereignty and a direct threat to regional peace and stability.

The Ministry emphasized that the attack is indicative of Pakistan's ongoing pattern of reckless behavior and its attempts to externalize its internal failures through desperate acts of violence beyond its borders.

Furthermore, the MEA remarked on the attack's timing during Ramadan, a sacred month for Muslims, highlighting it as a period for peace, reflection, and compassion.

"No belief, law, or moral code can justify the intentional targeting of a hospital and its patients," the statement read.

India urged the international community to hold accountable those responsible for this criminal act and to ensure that Pakistan's unjust targeting of Afghan civilians ceases immediately.

Expressing condolences, the MEA stated, "India extends its heartfelt condolences to the grieving families, wishes a swift recovery for the injured, and stands united with the Afghan people during this tragic time. We reaffirm our unwavering support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Afghanistan."
