India Rising as a Key Hub for Cost-Effective Medical Tourism: President Murmu

New Delhi, Dec 17 (NationPress) India is rapidly becoming a significant hub for cost-effective medical tourism on the international stage, with doctors in the nation playing a crucial role in this advancement, remarked President Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday.

While addressing the inaugural convocation of AIIMS Mangalagiri in Andhra Pradesh today, the President noted that through talent and dedication, Indian doctors have attained a prestigious position globally.

“India is evolving as a major hub for affordable medical tourism worldwide, and physicians have a pivotal role in this evolution. Individuals from various countries come to India to benefit from the medical facilities provided here,” Murmu stated.

Among the young doctors who graduated today, two-thirds were women.

The President expressed her delight at the increasing participation of young women in the medical field, which signifies a progressive society.

“My heartfelt congratulations to these daughters who have made us proud. The growing involvement of women in medicine and their notable contributions reflect that we are advancing towards being a truly developed society,” Murmu commented.

“This also underscores that when given opportunities, our daughters excel in every sector,” she added, while also appreciating the families of the young women doctors.

Furthermore, she advised the medical practitioners that the medical profession is “the pathway to serving humanity.”

To attain success and respect, the President encouraged doctors to focus on “service orientation, learning orientation, and research orientation.”

She emphasized that between fame and wealth, “they should prioritize fame.”

“You will have priceless opportunities to save lives and enhance health. You have acquired the skills to seize such opportunities. I am confident that you will commit yourselves to ongoing learning, maintaining your abilities in line with the best and the latest,” she asserted.

The President also called for “innovative solutions” to address the challenges faced by medical science over time.

Moreover, she urged young doctors to “prioritize delivering medical care and services to individuals residing in rural, tribal, and remote regions.”

“Providing inclusive healthcare is our national ambition. Physicians, especially young doctors like you, play a vital role in realizing this vision. I hope that all of you will undertake this responsibility with utmost dedication and contribute significantly to creating a healthy, prosperous, and developed India,” President Murmu concluded.
