New Delhi, March 27 (NationPress) Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman convened with Suzanne Clark, President and CEO of the US Chamber of Commerce, to explore the expanding business relations between India and the United States.
The meeting, held in the capital, also featured Atul Keshap, President of the US-India Business Council (USIBC).
FM Sitharaman expressed gratitude for the enhanced business collaboration between Indian and American companies.
In a post shared on the social media platform X, the Finance Ministry remarked: "Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs Smt @nsitharaman met Ms @SuzanneUSCC, President and CEO, US Chamber of Commerce @USChamber, in New Delhi today, along with Mr Atul Keshap, President, @USIBC at @USChamber."
The Finance Minister underscored how escalating investments, innovation, and trade between the two countries are fostering economic growth.
Clark acknowledged India’s ongoing economic reforms, particularly in the realm of foreign direct investment (FDI).
She pointed out that these reforms have generated heightened interest from US businesses aiming to broaden their footprint in India.
As per the Finance Ministry, Clark also underlined how cross-border investments and entrepreneurship are further fortifying the US-India alliance.
The discussions reaffirmed both nations’ commitment to enhancing economic cooperation and amplifying trade and investment prospects.
In a related note, last month, Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal stressed that India and the United States complement each other in trade rather than compete.
He mentioned that dialogues were underway with various stakeholders to further reinforce trade relations between the two countries.
Speaking virtually at the NDTV Profit Conclave, Goyal emphasized India’s aim to double bilateral trade with the US to $500 billion by 2030.
"This is a relationship between two amicable nations, trusted allies, and robust democracies. We do not compete as much as we complement each other," he stated.
He characterized the two nations as trusted partners and powerful democracies collaborating to enhance economic cooperation.
