Itanagar, Dec 5 (NationPress) The Indian Army has etched its name in history by accomplishing the remarkable feat of summiting Mount Kangto (7,042 meters), the tallest peak in Arunachal Pradesh, according to officials' reports on Friday.

Defence spokesperson Lt Col Athul Sreedharan announced that in an extraordinary achievement and a moment of national pride, a team from the Indian Army's Eastern Command has successfully reached the summit of Mount Kangto, which stands at 7,042 m (23,103 ft) and was previously considered an unconquered peak, taking the challenging Southern route.

This achievement signifies the first recorded successful ascent of the daunting Mount Kangto, a peak long viewed as an unclimbed guardian of the Kameng Himalayas, as stated by the spokesman.

The team was officially ‘Flagged In’ by Lt Gen R.C. Tiwari, the Army Commander of Eastern Command, who praised the mountaineers for their exceptional bravery, professionalism, and determination. The 18-member team was launched on November 3 from a forward base by Lt Gen Gambhir Singh, General Officer Commanding of Gajraj Corps, embarking on a strenuous expedition through rugged Himalayan landscapes.

According to Lt Col Sreedharan, while battling extremely thin air, harsh sub-zero temperatures, perilous icy ridgelines, deep crevasses, and steep ice walls, the climbers demonstrated the quintessential attributes of the Indian Army: unparalleled grit, discipline, teamwork, and an unyielding spirit.

This historic ascent pays homage to the magnificent Eastern Himalayas and symbolizes the Indian Army’s steadfast commitment to expanding the limits of human endurance and achieving operational excellence, with the defence official asserting that nothing is beyond the reach of the Indian Army.

In a separate initiative, the Indian Army organized a blood donation camp at the general hospital in Aalo, located in the West Siang district. On Friday, in an inspiring act of unity and compassion, the Indian Army conducted this blood donation camp at the General Hospital in Aalo, Arunachal Pradesh’s West Siang district, receiving enthusiastic participation from the local community.

Army and Air Force personnel collaborated with local citizens, youth volunteers, and students from the Teacher Training College in Aalo, transforming the event into one of the district’s most vibrant community initiatives in recent times.

The turnout was exceptional, reflecting a profound sense of service and solidarity that enhances Military Civil Fusion. Army representatives expressed sincere gratitude to all donors, emphasizing that each donation will bolster emergency medical support and potentially save lives.

Reaffirming its commitment to the residents of West Siang, the Indian Army indicated that such humanitarian efforts will continue to serve as a crucial bridge of trust, goodwill, and shared responsibility in the region, as noted by the defence spokesman.
