How Does the Indian Diaspora in the UK View Op Sindoor and PM Modi's Leadership Against Terrorism?

London, June 2 (NationPress) Members of the Indian diaspora in the UK have praised the decisive action taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union government against cross-border terrorism through Operation Sindoor. They expressed their pride in India's strong response to terrorism sponsored by Pakistan.

The sentiments were shared during an outreach event organized by the Indian Embassy in the UK on Sunday (local time). An all-party Parliamentary delegation, led by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Ravi Shankar Prasad, engaged with the diaspora, emphasizing India's clear and united stance against terrorism.

The nine-member delegation includes notable figures such as Daggubati Purandeswari (BJP), Priyanka Chaturvedi (Shiv Sena-UBT), Ghulam Ali Khatana (BJP), Amar Singh (Congress), Samik Bhattacharya (BJP), M. Thambidurai (AIADMK), former Union Minister M.J. Akbar, and former Ambassador Pankaj Saran. They arrived in London late Saturday evening (local time).

The delegation was welcomed by Vivek Doraiswami, India's High Commissioner to the UK.

After the interaction with the Indian community in London on Sunday afternoon (local time), diaspora members lauded Operation Sindoor and the leadership of Prime Minister Modi.

One community member praised the Indian Armed Forces for the success of Operation Sindoor, stating: "This operation is a massive achievement. In just five days, we demonstrated to Pakistan our capabilities, and the impact has resonated globally. Pakistan’s military even requested a ceasefire, highlighting the operation's success. India has effectively countered Pakistan, and any further misadventure will be met with a strong response. This serves as a crucial lesson for Pakistan."

Another attendee remarked: "I commend Operation Sindoor; it symbolizes India's unity and the protection of our loved ones. I fully support Prime Minister Modi and believe that violence and terrorism must not be tolerated. India has never initiated attacks, but we must respond decisively to any aggression."

A third participant expressed excitement about the event, stating: "Being here at the Indian High Commission in the UK is fantastic. I am eager to hear the government's stance on Operation Sindoor and recent events in Kashmir. As a woman of Indian descent with family in India, I believe it’s vital to know how our government ensures safety for all Indians."

Another diaspora member added: "Today, we unite at the Indian High Commission to discuss India's position on terrorism. Any actions taken were necessary responses against terrorism. We harbor no ill will towards the people of Pakistan and aspire for peace, but Pakistan has unjustly attacked our sisters. We convey to the world that launching Operation Sindoor was the right decision. This operation is not over but only temporarily paused, and we aim to reclaim Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir in the near future. If Pakistan perpetuates further violence, India will retaliate effectively."

The all-party delegation, led by Ravi Shankar Prasad, visited the Ambedkar Museum in London as part of India's outreach to affirm its commitment to combating terrorism.

During their visit, the MPs honored B.R. Ambedkar and recalled the tragic events of 26 November 2008, when Pakistan-sponsored terror struck Mumbai, coinciding with the anniversary of the adoption of India's Constitution in 1949, which was drafted under Babasaheb Ambedkar's guidance.

The delegation emphasized the determination of Indian democracy to confront and eradicate terrorism in all its forms.

Over their four-day stay in Britain, the delegation plans to meet with Lindsay Hoyle, Speaker of the House of Commons; Catherine West, Minister for Indo-Pacific; members of both Houses of Parliament, and key representatives from media, think tanks, and the Indian diaspora.

The Indian Embassy in London previously tweeted: "An all-party Parliamentary delegation, including former Ministers and a former Ambassador, led by Ravi Shankar Prasad, has arrived in London to reinforce India's commitment to defeating terrorism."
