London, June 2 (NationPress) Members of the Indian diaspora in the UK have praised the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the decisive actions of the Union government against cross-border terrorism through Operation Sindoor. They expressed their pride in India's strong response to Pakistan-sponsored terrorism.
This sentiment was shared during an outreach event organized by the Indian Embassy in the UK on Sunday (local time), where an all-party parliamentary delegation led by BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad interacted with the diaspora, emphasizing India's firm, unified, and assertive approach to combating terrorism.
The nine-member delegation included prominent figures such as Daggubati Purandeswari (BJP), Priyanka Chaturvedi (Shiv Sena-UBT), Ghulam Ali Khatana (BJP), Amar Singh (Congress), Samik Bhattacharya (BJP), M. Thambidurai (AIADMK), former Union Minister M.J. Akbar, and former Ambassador Pankaj Saran, who arrived in London late Saturday evening (local time).
The delegation was welcomed by the Indian High Commissioner to the UK, Vivek Doraiswami.
After the delegation’s engagement with the Indian community in London on Sunday afternoon (local time), attendees praised Operation Sindoor and the leadership of PM Modi.
An Indian community member remarked, “This (Operation Sindoor) is a significant achievement. We demonstrated to Pakistan in just five days our capabilities, and the effects are felt globally. The request from Pakistan's military for a ceasefire highlights this success. India’s response has been firm, and any further provocations will be met with strength.”
Another community member noted, “I commend Operation Sindoor; it symbolizes India’s unity and the protection of our loved ones. I fully support Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his stance against violence and terrorism, which should never be tolerated.”
A third attendee expressed, “It’s wonderful to be at the Indian High Commission in the UK. Hearing from Indian officials about Operation Sindoor and recent events in Kashmir is crucial for us, especially as someone with Indian heritage who has visited Kashmir multiple times.”
Another diaspora member emphasized, “All Indians here today stand united against terrorism and support India's actions. We desire peace with Pakistan, but they must recognize the suffering of our sisters. Operation Sindoor is merely a temporary halt; we aim to reclaim Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) soon. Any further terrorist acts will prompt a strong response from India.”
The delegation, led by Ravi Shankar Prasad, also visited the Ambedkar Museum in London as part of efforts to reaffirm India's commitment to combat terrorism.
During their visit, they paid homage to B.R. Ambedkar while also recalling the tragic events of the Mumbai attacks on November 26, 2008, orchestrated by Pakistan-backed terrorists, coinciding with the anniversary of the adoption of India’s Constitution.
The MPs reiterated the determination of Indian democracy to confront and eradicate terrorism in all its forms.
The delegation is scheduled to meet various UK parliamentary members and representatives from media, think tanks, and the Indian diaspora during their four-day visit to Britain.
The Indian Embassy in London previously announced on X: “An All-Party Parliamentary delegation led by Ravi Shankar Prasad has arrived in London to convey India’s unwavering commitment to defeating terrorism.”
