New Delhi, Dec 4 (NationPress) The Indian Navy showcased its operational strength and skills through an Operational Demonstration during Navy Day celebrations in Odisha.
The President of India and the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Droupadi Murmu, served as the Chief Guest for the event, which was presided over by Adm Dinesh K Tripathi, Chief of the Naval Staff.
“I am assured that the Indian Navy will persist in guaranteeing maritime security, crucial for our ascent to a Viksit Bharat by 2047. With 63 ships being constructed in India, the Navy’s unwavering commitment to becoming an Aatmanirbhar force by 2047 serves as a motivation for all of us to pursue innovation in ‘Mission Mode’,” stated the President.
She emphasized that the Navy’s groundbreaking initiatives in creating suitable growth pathways for ‘Nari Shakti’ are particularly commendable.
The Indian Navy commemorates Navy Day on December 4 to honor 'Operation Trident', the bold strike on Karachi harbor during the Indo-Pak War in 1971.
“In the past year, numerous accomplishments have enhanced the Indian Navy's reputation as we have operated across the oceans, from the Atlantic to the Pacific, including the INSV Tarini which is navigating the Southern Ocean,” noted Adm Dinesh K Tripathi.
He mentioned that Indian Navy units have maintained a heightened pace of operations and a robust state of combat readiness.
“Simultaneously, our bilateral and multilateral collaborations have strengthened partnerships and reinforced India’s image as a responsible partner in ensuring 'Security And Growth for All in the Region' in alignment with the Prime Minister's vision,” he added.
He expressed that today’s ‘Operational Demonstration’ aimed to present a glimpse of ‘What we Do at Sea’—showcasing the Navy’s professionalism and commitment.
“On Navy Day, we continue to draw motivation from our illustrious predecessors who made history in 1971 through their courageous and decisive actions in both the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal, assuring India of a glorious victory. We take a moment today to honor our shipmates who made the supreme sacrifice while also expressing our gratitude to our veterans who wore the white uniform with pride for many years and continue to serve the nation post-retirement,” he stated.
Other significant highlights included performances by the Naval Band, Continuity Drill, and Horn Pipe Dance by SCC Cadets. The event concluded with the illumination of ships at anchorage, followed by a Laser and Drone show at the beach. This marked the second occasion that the Indian Navy organized a major event at a location other than a primary Naval Station. Blue Flag Beach, Puri, is roughly 500 km from Visakhapatnam and about 200 km from the nearest Naval Station at INS Chilka.
