Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Feb 18 (NationPress) The true potential of India in the realm of AI lies not in isolated innovations but in connected ecosystems, asserted Deepak Bagla, Director of NITI Aayog's Atal Innovation Mission, on Wednesday.
At the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), he emphasized that "we are creating synergies between startups and mentors, innovators and investors, as well as policy and practice."
Bagla noted, "When these connections unite with intention, AI transitions from being merely a tool to becoming a national movement. This is how India will not only adopt AI but also spearhead its global application, fulfilling PM Modi's vision of Viksit Bharat 2047," during the ‘AI Impact Summit 2026’.
The Atal Innovation Mission has significantly contributed to the Summit, showcasing how India's artificial intelligence evolution is taking shape at both grassroots and policy levels.
The ‘AI Tinkerpreneur Showcase’ featured 50 student teams from Atal Tinkering Labs (ATLs) nationwide, presenting their AI-based innovations that tackle real-world issues in sectors such as healthcare, agriculture, climate resilience, accessibility, education, and public service delivery.
AI Tinkerpreneur, a flagship initiative of AIM in partnership with Intel, aims to enhance AI skills, creativity, and entrepreneurial mindset among school students.
The initiative saw participation from over 12,000 student teams across India, as stated by NITI Aayog.
After a rigorous multi-stage assessment, the top 50 teams were chosen from across the nation to showcase their innovations at the ‘India AI Impact Summit 2026’.
A special segment of the Summit, ‘AI by HER’, highlighted girl innovators from ATLs who shared their experiences of creating AI solutions, overcoming challenges, and emerging as confident players in India’s AI landscape.
The involvement of Atal Tinkering Labs at the India AI Impact Summit 2026 illustrates a strong connection between grassroots innovation and India’s broader AI objectives, demonstrating how young innovators from classrooms nationwide are actively contributing to the country’s innovation and entrepreneurship trajectory.
