Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Karnal (Haryana), March 26 (NationPress) Union Minister Manohar Lal stated on Thursday that while worldwide conflicts and geopolitical tensions may threaten the supply of petroleum and gas, India is thoroughly equipped to address any potential crisis and urges citizens that there is "no need to panic" at this time.
In a conversation with reporters, the minister emphasized that energy supply challenges are not exclusive to India but are an escalating global issue, especially given the ongoing conflicts among various nations that risk disrupting international supply chains.
He remarked, "This is not just an Indian concern, but a matter of international significance. A significant challenge we face is that some nations are involved in wars, which could severely impact the availability of petroleum and gas that we import from them."
However, the Union Minister reassured the public that the current scenario remains secure, with no imminent supply disruptions. “Currently, everything is operating smoothly, and there are no issues,” he stated.
Highlighting the importance of preparedness, he added, "There is a saying — hope for the best and be prepared for the worst. The government has implemented extensive measures to secure energy resources, even in unforeseen situations. We must always be ready for any potential issues. That is the reason the Government of India has taken comprehensive steps. Even in the event of future difficulties, we will be able to navigate through them effectively."
He further pointed out that India possesses adequate reserves of essential fuels and resources. "We currently have sufficient stock, whether it is petrol, LPG, or other materials that we import from abroad. We are prepared in every respect," he affirmed.
Connecting this preparedness to the broader vision of self-reliance, Manohar Lal referenced Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative for an Aatmanirbhar Bharat. He clarified that self-reliance means enhancing domestic capabilities to lessen dependency on external sources.
"The Prime Minister has conveyed that we need to foster an Atmanirbhar Bharat. The essence of self-reliance is that we should become self-sufficient," he explained.
He also brought attention to the existing system of mutual trade among nations, noting that India both imports and exports goods based on necessity. Nevertheless, he asserted that the country is capable of managing even challenging circumstances.
"Currently, there exists a practical exchange system—certain items we import from them, and others they procure from us. Yet, if conditions worsen in the future, we are entirely capable of managing the situation comprehensively," he stated.
Reinforcing his message, the Union Minister urged the populace to remain calm. "I want to reiterate to everyone that there is no need to panic, because if any challenges arise, we are thoroughly prepared to handle them," he concluded.
