New Delhi, Aug 2 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized on Saturday that targeted initiatives and collaborations between public and private sectors are catalyzing the industrial transformation in areas such as green technology and electric mobility.
In response to a post by Union Heavy Industries Minister HD Kumaraswamy on X, PM Modi stated that "India is transforming its industrial framework with a significant emphasis on electric mobility, green technology, and self-sufficient manufacturing".
Kumaraswamy noted that the country's industrial framework is evolving, driven by the spirit of 'Atmanirbhar Bharat'.
"Under the direction of PM Modi, the Ministry of Heavy Industries is fostering a dynamic and self-sufficient ecosystem aligned with ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’," the minister shared.
"From electric mobility to advanced manufacturing, research and development-driven innovation to sustainable infrastructure, we are empowering industries to thrive globally while mitigating import reliance," he elaborated.
"Through initiatives such as the Production Linked Incentive schemes, FAME, SMPEC, capital goods support initiatives, and e-bus deployment, India’s heavy industries have significantly expanded, promoting inclusivity, innovation, and sustainability," he remarked.
He further added, "This is how we are crafting a future-ready India, generating employment, and fostering technological excellence".
Currently, there are a total of 29,277 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations established nationwide.
An investment of Rs 2,000 crore has been allocated under the PM E-DRIVE Scheme to facilitate the establishment of adequate public charging infrastructure for various categories of electric vehicles across the country in collaboration with ministries, states, and other stakeholders.
In addition, the government has supported a cumulative total of 18,84,905 electric vehicles (EVs) under the Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of (Hybrid and) Electric Vehicles in India (FAME India) scheme up until June 30 of this year.
Under the FAME-II initiative, support was provided for 16,29,600 vehicles. The FAME-II scheme allocated Rs 912.50 crore for the installation of 9,332 EV PCS, of which 8,885 EV PCS have been successfully installed (as of June 30).
