New Delhi, March 6 (NationPress) India finds itself in a strong position with ample reserves of crude oil and petroleum products, including petrol, diesel, and LPG. The nation's oil companies are actively procuring imports from regions beyond the Gulf to mitigate supply interruptions caused by the Iran conflict.
"Currently, we have more energy sources available than those affected in the Straits of Hormuz. We are well-equipped in terms of crude oil, oil products, and LPG. Our existing stock levels are satisfactory, and we are enhancing our imports from various locations to compensate for any shortages arising from the Straits of Hormuz," stated a senior official.
Furthermore, the official mentioned that reports regarding the MRPL refinery's shutdown are unfounded. The MRPL Refinery remains adequately stocked, and all LPG-producing refineries have been instructed to boost their output. The country is adequately supplied with LPG at this time.
"We will also utilize our petrochemical resources domestically to fulfill consumption needs," the official added.
The government has instructed refiners to maximize production of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and prioritize domestic supply to avert a shortage of this essential cooking fuel amid ongoing disruptions linked to the Middle Eastern crisis. According to a directive from the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MoPNG), Indian oil refiners will be mandated to emphasize critical gases like propane and butane for household LPG production.
