Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, March 14 (NationPress) The budget airline IndiGo announced on Saturday its plans to operate 252 weekly flights to and from the Middle East between March 16 and March 28, adapting its services due to the ongoing geopolitical developments in the area.
The airline is methodically resuming its operations while ensuring its capacity aligns with the prevailing conditions.
During this timeframe, IndiGo will provide approximately 126 weekly flights to and from Saudi Arabia, 98 weekly flights to and from the United Arab Emirates, and 28 weekly flights to and from Oman.
In light of the current geopolitical risks, which include airspace limitations, airport challenges, and escalating fuel and insurance expenses, the airline is closely monitoring the situation.
In a public statement, the airline emphasized, "We are taking these measures to guarantee safe and dependable operations across the region while ensuring vital connectivity."
Passengers departing from the Middle East will still have access to numerous destinations within IndiGo’s extensive network throughout India and beyond.
However, the airline has indicated that flights to certain locations in the region—specifically Doha, Kuwait, Bahrain, Dammam, Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah, and Sharjah—will be suspended until March 28 as part of its temporary network modifications.
IndiGo has also stated that it is implementing measures to assist impacted passengers and may arrange additional ad-hoc flights for those stranded if necessary.
The airline is committed to providing real-time updates through its website and social media, urging passengers to verify the latest flight details and travel advisories before embarking on their trips.
Furthermore, IndiGo will continue to liaise with relevant authorities, adjusting its operations as the situation evolves, while reaffirming its dedication to the safety of passengers, crew, and aircraft.
On Friday, shares of InterGlobe Aviation, the parent company of IndiGo, closed at Rs 4,162, marking a decline of around 2% on the BSE.
