Key Takeaways
New Delhi, March 12 (NationPress) — The Indian government announced on Thursday that flight operations by Indian airlines to and from Riyadh have recommenced as it actively observes the developing circumstances in the West Asia region.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation stated it is diligently monitoring the situation and its implications on air travel between India and the neighboring countries.
In light of the current conditions, airlines are making essential operational adjustments to ensure passenger safety and maintain orderly flight operations.
“In this regard, flight operations by Indian carriers to/from Riyadh were restarted on 12 March 2026. On the inaugural day of the resumption, three flights are being operated by Air India and IndiGo to Mumbai, along with one service to Calicut provided by Air India Express, thereby reinstating crucial air connectivity between India and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia,” the ministry reported.
From February 28 to March 11, a total of 150,457 air passengers traveled from the Gulf nations to India.
“Furthermore, on 12 March 2026, Indian carriers have arranged 57 inbound flights from various cities in West Asia, including Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Fujairah, Jeddah, Muscat, Ras Al Khaimah, Riyadh, and Sharjah, subject to operational feasibility and existing circumstances,” the ministry added.
The ministry is maintaining close collaboration with airlines and other relevant stakeholders to ensure smooth passenger movement. Airfares are also under close scrutiny to keep ticket prices reasonable and prevent any undue surge during this time.
“Passengers are encouraged to stay in touch with their respective airlines for the latest information regarding flight schedules and travel arrangements. The Ministry will continue to monitor the situation and offer updates as needed,” the official statement concluded.
