Kolkata, Aug 11 (NationPress) The Leader of Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, sent a letter on Monday to Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw, urging for an immediate investigation into the alleged illegal and unethical collaboration between the state government and the Indian Political Action Committee (I-PAC).

Adhikari claims there is increasing evidence that I-PAC associates, who work for the ruling Trinamool Congress, have infiltrated the state administration.

“These individuals are reportedly giving instructions to senior officials, including WBCS Executive Officers and WB Cadre IAS Officers. This represents a gross misuse of power, obscuring the distinction between party politics and public service, and is likely diverting state resources to support TMC's campaign management,” Adhikari stated in a social media post.

He expressed concern that this could evolve into a financial scam and a breach of trust towards the citizens of West Bengal.

He urged a comprehensive investigation by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) to uncover digital traces of unauthorized I-PAC involvement in state government communications, the misuse of state IT resources by non-governmental entities, breaches of data privacy and cybersecurity standards, and any illicit payments from public funds to I-PAC.

“This situation transcends administrative concerns; it poses a risk to our democracy. I am dedicated to combating this systematic decay,” Adhikari added.

Recently, the LoP spotlighted an incident he believes exemplifies how I-PAC, known for strategizing Trinamool Congress' public relations since the 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections, is now influencing internal administrative decisions.

Adhikari shared a screenshot on his X handle of an email sent from Avesh Singh, a representative of I-PAC, to the director of information and the ex-officio additional secretary of the state information and cultural affairs department.

In this email, the I-PAC representative provided links to essential design assets for a state government initiative, “Amader Para, Amader Samadhan (Our locality, our solution)”.

Adhikari has also fiercely criticized Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and the state administration, alleging that she has permitted illegal Bangladeshi Muslim immigrants to settle in West Bengal and now allows I-PAC personnel to breach the operational boundaries of the state government.

Point of View

It is vital to approach this situation objectively. The allegations posed by Suvendu Adhikari regarding I-PAC's involvement in state administration raise serious concerns about governance and accountability. It is essential to allow an impartial investigation to uncover the truth, ensuring that the democratic principles are upheld and citizens' trust is maintained.
