Gandhinagar, March 13 (NationPress) The government of Gujarat has made a significant announcement today, allowing restaurants, hotels, educational institutions, and social-religious organizations in areas with established city gas pipeline networks to obtain new PNG (piped natural gas) connections instantly upon request. This decision was reached during a high-level review meeting focused on the status of PNG and petroleum products in the state, led by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.
“The Chief Minister has sanctioned that institutions needing new PNG connections can receive gas without delay where city gas distribution pipelines are accessible,” officials reported.
Participants at the meeting included Energy and Petrochemicals Minister Rushikesh Patel and Food and Civil Supplies Minister Raman Solanki.
Officials evaluated the present supply of natural gas across the state, confirming that domestic users currently enjoying home-to-home pipeline supply have sufficient access to PNG.
Senior officials, including Chief Secretary M.K. Das, were also in attendance. Das is at the helm of a high-level committee established by the state government to liaise with the central government.
Earlier today, the state government dismissed opposition claims regarding a shortage of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and other cooking gas due to the ongoing turmoil in West Asia.
While addressing the State Assembly, Minister Solanki affirmed that the state has more than four lakh LPG cylinders in stock. “As of today, we possess 4,16,504 LPG cylinders,” Solanki stated.
He also assured that the government is vigilantly monitoring the situation in light of developments in the region.
On Wednesday, Minister Jitu Vaghani warned that stringent legal actions would be pursued against individuals involved in the black market or hoarding of LPG cylinders and other cooking fuels.
“Citizens are urged to remain alert against rumors and misinformation. The government will take decisive action against those attempting to exploit the current circumstances for illegal profit,” he stated.
