Israel and Rajasthan Unite to Boost Global Water Resource Collaboration

Jaipur, Dec 9 (NationPress) A significant agreement was established between the Israeli Foreign Ministry and Rajasthan's Water Resources Department to promote international collaboration in the water sector on the first day of the 'Rising Rajasthan' Global Investment Summit 2024.
Furthermore, a ‘Letter of Intent’ was also executed between the Government of Rajasthan and the Danish Embassy to work together on the restoration of the Saraswati Paleochannel.
Union Minister for Culture and Tourism, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, addressed the audience, underscoring the necessity of water conservation. He pointed out that due to climate change, rainfall patterns have undergone significant alterations, resulting in severe water shortages in some areas while others experience an overflow. To tackle these challenges, he stressed the importance of implementing effective water management techniques.
Shekhawat emphasized that conserving every drop of water is vital for ensuring the future of the next generations. He advocated for practices such as wastewater treatment, water recycling, and minimizing irrigation water consumption. The minister also lauded Israel's advanced water management technologies like drip irrigation and sprinkler systems.
Water Resources Minister Suresh Singh Rawat remarked that, aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of transforming India into a developed nation by 2047, Rajasthan is hosting this three-day conference to draw substantial investments and contribute to the country’s growth.
He assured that the state government is dedicated to securing water resources for future generations, with ongoing projects such as the Revised PKC-Integrated ERCP, the Yamuna Water MoU, and the Dewas project.
Abhay Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary of the Water Resources Department, called for a unified initiative to preserve and sustainably manage water resources, ensuring that every drop is valued.
The session included discussions among industry leaders, water resource specialists, and other attendees regarding the critical need for sustainable water management in light of climate change, rapid urban expansion, and increasing water demand.
