Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Jabalpur, April 11 (NationPress) The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) of Jabalpur is now accepting applications from qualified individuals to join as Para-Legal Volunteers (PLVs) for the year 2026–27. This initiative aims to enhance access to justice for society's most vulnerable groups.
As per the Jabalpur district administration, chosen volunteers will be stationed at legal service centers located in villages, police stations, and other significant areas. Their main responsibility will be to assist individuals—particularly the poor, marginalized, and distressed—in obtaining legal aid, guidance, and access to government welfare programs.
“This initiative is designed to ensure that legal support reaches the grassroots level. Para-Legal Volunteers serve as a vital link between the community and the legal framework,” stated the Jabalpur district administration in a recent announcement.
The administration further mentioned that PLVs will also aid in initiatives like finding missing children and promoting awareness regarding legal rights and entitlements.
The DLSA emphasized that this role is informal and does not guarantee a fixed salary. However, selected volunteers will receive a daily honorarium of Rs 750 for up to 10 days a month, according to the guidelines set by the National and State Legal Services Authorities.
Eligibility criteria include being at least 18 years old, having completed Class 10, and demonstrating good moral character along with sound mental and physical health.
Current volunteers are invited to reapply. The authority has encouraged a diverse range of individuals to participate, including retired educators, government officials, senior citizens, social work students, Anganwadi workers, ASHA workers, healthcare professionals, and members of non-political organizations. Women involved in self-help groups and similar community organizations are also welcome.
“This program offers an opportunity for citizens to make a meaningful impact by assisting those in need to navigate legal procedures and seek justice,” the administration remarked.
Officials anticipate that this initiative will not only enhance legal awareness but also ensure timely assistance for disadvantaged communities throughout the district.
