Is Waheed Para Seeking Age Relaxation for JKAS Aspirants?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Srinagar, Dec 5 (NationPress) Waheed ur Rehman Para, a prominent leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and legislator from Jammu and Kashmir, has reached out to Lt Governor Manoj Sinha on Friday to seek clarity regarding the age relaxation for candidates appearing for the Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Service (JKAS) competitive examination.
In a post on X, Para expressed, "After receiving numerous inquiries from students concerning the forthcoming exams, I’ve formally contacted @OfficeOfLGJandK to request age relaxation for JKPSC aspirants. The system our youth aspire to serve should be supportive, not exclusionary."
He also shared a copy of his letter addressed to the L-G on X, indicating that a formal proposal advocating for age relaxation for those candidates who lost essential preparation time due to uncontrollable circumstances has already been submitted.
Para noted, "The Jammu and Kashmir government has consistently communicated that the proposal is complete and only awaits your esteemed consideration and approval. However, no definitive decision has been provided. This ongoing uncertainty has caused significant distress among aspirants who hope for an equitable opportunity."
"Any further postponement or denial of this widely supported request could exacerbate feelings of exclusion among our youth, especially when rebuilding public trust in institutions is crucial. A prompt decision would not only settle an administrative issue but also hold considerable symbolic significance for our youth," the MLA emphasized.
In related news, the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission, which oversees this competitive examination, has distributed admit cards to candidates for the exam set to commence on December 7.
At this point, there has been no official announcement regarding the approval of the proposed age relaxation or whether it applies to candidates taking the JKAS exam on December 7.
Uncertainties continue to loom over aspirants who are depending on age relaxation to compete in this esteemed civil service examination.
