Key Takeaways
Jammu, Dec 6 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah, reached out to the chairman of the Public Service Commission (PSC) on Saturday, requesting a delay in the JKAS exam set for December 7 due to ongoing disruptions in air services.
In his correspondence with the J&K PSC Chairman, the Chief Minister highlighted that the extensive disruptions in air travel have led to significant turmoil in the region.
He remarked, “This situation is exacerbated by the current uncertainty surrounding the age relaxation proposal, a provision that has been extended multiple times prior.”
Furthermore, the Chief Minister pointed out that such circumstances have imposed extraordinary mental and logistical burdens on the candidates competing for the exam.
He urged the commission to consider the principles of fairness, equity, and equal opportunity for all candidates, recommending a reasonable postponement of the examination in light of the current challenges.
His letter came after a statement from the Lieutenant Governor indicating that the file concerning the JKAS exam was not pending with the Lok Bhavan.
Former Chief Minister and President of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mehbooba Mufti, also appealed to the Lieutenant Governor and the Chief Minister to assist hundreds of aspirants who are uncertain about their eligibility for the upcoming exam.
Tanvir Sadiq, Chief Spokesman of the ruling National Conference (NC) and MLA, stated that the file regarding age relaxation for JKAS candidates has already been submitted for approval to the Lok Bhavan.
Additionally, CPI M leader and MLA M.Y. Tarigami expressed sympathy for the candidates awaiting clarity on the age relaxation issue related to the upcoming JKAS exam.
Earlier, the Lieutenant Governor clarified that media reports suggesting the file about conducting the JKAS exam was pending with the Lok Bhavan were incorrect, asserting that the file related to age relaxation was returned with a query on December 2, the same day it was received.
The J&K PSC, responsible for conducting the JKAS competitive exam, has already issued admit cards to candidates for the exam scheduled for December 7 across Jammu and Kashmir.
