Did the File Received by Lok Bhawan Concern Conduct of JKAS Exam?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Jammu, Dec 6 (NationPress) On Saturday, Jammu and Kashmir's Lt Governor Manoj Sinha clarified that the file received by Lok Bhawan was not related to the conduct of the JKAS examination but was specifically about age relaxation. He emphasized that the file was returned to the government with a query on December 2, the same day it was received.
In response to misleading media reports suggesting the file's focus was on the JKAS exam's conduct, the L-G stated that the facts were inaccurately portrayed.
In a post on X, he stated, “The discussions on social media regarding the JKPSC exam are not accurate. The file received by Lok Bhavan on December 2, 2025, was solely about Age Relaxation. It was returned the same day with a query regarding the feasibility of conducting the exam on December 7, considering eligibility criteria modifications at such a late hour.”
“Despite a four-day wait, Lok Bhavan has yet to receive a response. I completely empathize with the young candidates. The advertisement notice for the exam was issued by the J&K Public Service Commission on August 22, 2025, with the exam scheduled for December 7, 2025, as announced on November 6, 2025,” the L-G added.
The JKPSC, which is overseeing the JKAS competitive examination, has already distributed admit cards to candidates for the exam set for tomorrow throughout J&K.
Tanvir Sadiq, the chief spokesperson of the ruling National Conference (NC) and MLA, indicated that the file concerning age relaxation for JKAS candidates had already been forwarded for approval by the elected government to Lok Bhawan.
Mehbooba Mufti, former chief minister and president of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), urged both the L-G and the Chief Minister to assist the numerous aspirants who are uncertain of their eligibility for the upcoming exam.
M.Y. Tarigami, a leader of CPI M and MLA, also expressed his support for aspirants seeking clarity regarding age relaxation for the JKAS examination scheduled for Sunday.
