Will L-G Manoj Sinha Step In to Resolve JKAS Exam Crisis?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Jammu, Dec 6 (NationPress) The J&K Students Association (JKSA) has urgently called upon Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to take action on humanitarian grounds as the uncertainty surrounding exams is pushing aspirants for the Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Service (JKAS) to their limits.
In a press release, the JKSA made an urgent plea to L-G Manoj Sinha on behalf of countless JKAS and CCE candidates facing a crisis that is entirely outside their control.
“Numerous aspirants are stranded in various cities due to ongoing confusion about age relaxation and the examination's status. The JKSA has received hundreds of distress calls from anxious and helpless students stuck at airports and transit hubs in cities like Delhi, Bengaluru, Pune, Chandigarh, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Uttar Pradesh, and others,” the statement highlighted.
“Many of these students have traveled beyond Jammu & Kashmir for coaching or are studying in other universities. They are now left uncertain about whether to return, wait, or completely cancel their travel plans,” the statement noted.
Furthermore, it was stated that “to complicate matters, airfare prices have surged beyond what many families can afford, adding an immense financial strain on those already struggling.” Several flights have been canceled or rescheduled, plunging aspirants into deeper chaos. For many, reaching examination centers has become almost impossible.
“With flights unavailable and no viable road or alternative travel options at this time, students are left isolated, with no clear path forward. Aspirants are experiencing emotional breakdowns, panic attacks, and significant financial stress, primarily due to the lack of a definitive, written order addressing age relaxation and the examination's conduct,” the statement continued.
“This sustained uncertainty is undermining years of hard work, dedication, and hope. This situation is not merely unfortunate; it is fundamentally unjust. Students should not be forced to risk their mental health, dwindling savings, and future careers due to bureaucratic indecision. With less than 20 hours left before the preliminary examination, the absence of clear written communication has brought aspirants to the brink,” the statement emphasized.
“On behalf of thousands of aspirants and their families, we strongly urge Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to provide a prompt, definitive, and written decision and to instruct JKPSC to postpone the examination by one week. During this time, we implore the administration to resolve outstanding issues, ensuring clarity on age relaxation and examination logistics. Even a brief deferment or clear notification at this crucial juncture could avert irreparable damage to these students. Every passing hour intensifies the crisis. This has now escalated into a humanitarian emergency for the youth of Jammu & Kashmir,” it added.
It is crucial to note that L-G Manoj Sinha clarified on Saturday that the file related to age relaxation, not specifically concerning the JKAS exam's conduct, was received by Lok Bhawan on December 2. The L-G returned the file the same day with questions regarding the feasibility of conducting the JKAS exam scheduled by the Public Service Commission on December 6, given that all logistics would need to be reorganized, including basic advertisement issues from the commission.
