Jaipur Municipal Corporation Greater attained the 16th rank, while Jaipur Municipal Corporation Heritage held the 20th position among cities with populations exceeding 1 million.
Additionally, Dungarpur has brought pride to Rajasthan by being included in the esteemed Swachh Super League of cities with populations ranging from 20,000 to 50,000 across India.
According to state-wise rankings, Dungarpur was recognized as the cleanest city in Rajasthan, followed by Jaipur Greater in second place and Jaipur Heritage in third.
Udaipur was ranked fourth, Sikar fifth, Jaisalmer sixth, Bharatpur seventh, Churu eighth, Nathdwara ninth, and Pushkar tenth.
Jaipur Municipal Corporation Greater received the title of "Promising Clean City" in Rajasthan. Both Greater and Heritage achieved a 3-star rating in the national survey.
Jaipur Greater scored 91% in door-to-door garbage collection, 89% in waste segregation, 75% in waste generation and processing, and 100% in cleanliness of residential and commercial areas. Jaipur Heritage scored 91% in garbage collection, 50% in segregation, 86% in waste generation and processing, and 100% in cleanliness of residential and commercial zones. Special commendations were awarded for installing separate dustbins for wet and dry waste and ensuring the safety of sanitation workers engaged in sewer and drain cleaning.
Key initiatives such as the waste-to-energy plant and construction waste processing facilities significantly boosted the scores of both municipal bodies.
The efforts were spearheaded by former Greater Commissioner Rukmani Riyad and Heritage Commissioner Arun Kumar Hasija, with a focus on eliminating open garbage dumps and enhancing waste collection systems, including night sweeping. The Swachh Survey evaluated cleanliness levels based on waste management, public toilet facilities, urban beautification, and public awareness.
Both corporations prioritized citizen participation and awareness campaigns, which contributed to the improved rankings. The award ceremony took place at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, where President Droupadi Murmu presented the awards to the winning cities.
Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar was also in attendance. Notably, in the 2023 rankings, Jaipur Greater and Heritage were ranked 173rd and 171st, respectively. Their ascent into the top 20 this year signifies a remarkable turnaround in the city’s cleanliness standards.
