Jaipur, Jan 15 (NationPress) - The city is gearing up for a remarkable Thursday featuring significant high-profile events, including the 78th Army Day Parade along Mahal Road and Shaurya Sandhya, a ceremony honoring valor, at Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Stadium. Traffic diversions have been enacted across all three routes to accommodate these concurrent events.

The highlight of the day is the 78th Army Day Parade, which is occurring in Jaipur for the first time. This parade will take place on Mahal Road, with entry limited to those who have pre-registered. All attendees must carry an Aadhaar card. The event will commence with the awarding of Sena Medals (Gallantry) to soldiers who sacrificed their lives during Operation Sindoor.

Leading the parade will be officers honored with the Ashok Chakra, Param Vir Chakra, and Maha Vir Chakra, symbolizing a deeply moving and inspiring occasion as they salute the Parade Commander.

In attendance will be Mizoram Governor and former Army Chief General V.K. Singh as the chief guest, accompanied by Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Bagde, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, senior Army officials, and other esteemed guests.

Contingents from seven regiments, including the historic Madras Regiment, will participate in the parade. The event will showcase tanks, missiles, armored vehicles, drone technology, and modern warfare demonstrations.

Fighter jets and Army helicopters will conduct flypasts, with helicopters dispersing flower petals along the parade route, which stretches nearly three kilometers from Jeevan Rekha Hospital to Bombay Hospital, expecting to draw around 200,000 spectators. Parking is available at 18 designated spots, and traffic on Mahal Road in the Jagatpura area will be redirected from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m. Commuters are encouraged to use alternative routes.

Later in the evening, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will grace the Shaurya Sandhya event at the SMS Stadium at 5:30 p.m., arriving directly from the airport. Additionally, preparations are underway for President Droupadi Murmu’s visit to Jaipur on Friday, with a rehearsal scheduled from the airport to the Sikar Road-Neendad route this afternoon.
