Jaipur, March 5 (NationPress) All possible measures will be undertaken to guarantee the high-quality rehabilitation of individuals associated with begging, aimed at safeguarding Jaipur’s esteemed tradition and image, stated District Collector Jitendra Kumar Soni on Wednesday.

He has also instructed departmental officials to collaborate effectively to achieve a beggary-free city during a meeting convened at the Collectorate.

Soni highlighted the importance of efficient rehabilitation, allowing individuals to shift from begging to a life of dignity through skill development and employment opportunities.

The District Collector directed both police and traffic officers to aid in identifying and rescuing those engaged in begging, while taking stringent legal actions against individuals involved in criminal activities.

Moreover, municipal corporation officials were tasked with ensuring proper hygiene and upkeep of rehabilitation facilities, repairing toilets, and offering essential services.

He also stressed the importance of connecting these homes to the Annapurna Rasoi Yojana to guarantee sufficient food supply and facilitate employment and self-employment through skill training initiatives.

The medical department was assigned to perform health check-ups, provide medical care, and link rehabilitation homes to nearby government hospitals for necessary healthcare services. To ensure education for children involved in begging, the District Child Protection Unit was instructed to compile an inventory of such children and supply it to the Education Department.

Efforts will be made to enroll them in government-run Children Homes and local schools under the Right to Education Act. The Child Welfare Committee will also supervise their admission to suitable facilities.

For adults, the Social Justice and Empowerment Department was directed to work with the police, NGOs, and other agencies to conduct surveys and identify individuals in need.

Depending on eligibility, they will be admitted to Children Homes, Women Homes, Old Age Homes, or Rehabilitation Homes. Additionally, arrangements will be made for issuing Aadhar and Jan Aadhaar cards and linking them to social security schemes.

The Rajasthan Skill and Livelihood Development Corporation was instructed to organize residential training programs in batches for identified individuals. Those trained will be connected to employment opportunities through loans, grants, and government schemes, with follow-up programs ensuring long-term rehabilitation.

Soni reiterated that Jaipur’s reputation will remain intact, and coordinated efforts will persist to eliminate begging from the city.
