New Delhi, April 7 (NationPress) External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar had a significant meeting with Denzil L. Douglas, the Foreign Affairs Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, in New Delhi. The agenda covered various topics including developmental initiatives, health collaboration, digital advancements, and disaster management.

In addition to his role in foreign affairs, Douglas oversees International Trade, Industry, Commerce, Consumer Affairs, Economic Development, and Investment for his country. The two leaders also addressed pressing regional and global challenges.

EAM Jaishankar expressed his pleasure in hosting Dr. Denzil L. Douglas, stating, "I was delighted to welcome the Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Trade, Industry, Commerce & Consumer Affairs, Economic Development & Investment of St. Kitts and Nevis today. Douglas's visit to India began on Sunday following his engagements in Chandigarh. According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal noted that this visit is a vital step towards enhancing bilateral relations and fostering cooperation between the two nations.

"A warm welcome to FM Denzil Douglas of St. Kitts and Nevis upon his arrival in New Delhi. This visit is a significant milestone in reinforcing the historical ties and expanding collaboration between our nations. Additionally, the inauguration of the High Commission of St. Kitts and Nevis in India will take place during his visit," Jaiswal stated on X.

India and St. Kitts and Nevis have enjoyed a friendly relationship over the years. In July 2007, both countries signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at improving the mechanism for Foreign Office Consultations at the bureaucratic level. As a Commonwealth nation, Indian nationals can visit St. Kitts and Nevis without requiring a visa. The MEA noted that St. Kitts and Nevis generally supports India’s stances in international forums.
