New Delhi, April 22 (NationPress) A total of thirty-two candidates who underwent coaching at the Residential Coaching Academy (RCA) of Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) have successfully qualified in the UPSC Civil Services Exam 2024, as reported by an official on Tuesday.
Out of 78 students from RCA who participated in the interview, 32 have been chosen. Among the selected candidates, 12 are women, according to an official announcement.
Alfred Thomas achieved the All India 33rd rank, making him the top performer from RCA this year, followed closely by Iram Choudhary at 40th and Ruchika Jha at 51st rank, as per the statement.
The RCA was founded in 2010 by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under the auspices of the Centre for Coaching and Career Planning (CC&CP), JMI.
Prof. Mazhar Asif, Vice Chancellor of JMI, commented, “It is a source of immense pride and satisfaction that RCA JMI has accomplished this exceptional achievement. Their success reinforces our dedication to empowering candidates from geographically, economically, and socially marginalized groups.”

Among the 32 selected candidates, several are expected to join IAS and IPS services, while others may secure positions in IRS, Audit and Account Service, IRTS, and other Group-A services based on their ranks and preferences.

The RCA was initiated in 2010 by the UGC under the framework of the Centre for Coaching and Career Planning, JMI, to offer complimentary coaching and residential facilities to students from SC, ST, women, and minority backgrounds for civil services and other competitive exams. Candidates are selected for comprehensive coaching through an All India written examination followed by personal interviews.
Shruti Sharma, who topped the UPSC Civil Services Exam 2021, was another standout performer from RCA, JMI.
Since its inception in 2010-11 up to 2024, RCA has successfully produced over 300 civil servants, including numerous IAS, IFS, and IPS officers.
