Jammu and Kashmir Police Confiscate Drug Peddler's Vehicles in Srinagar

Srinagar, Dec 5 (NationPress) In an effort to tackle the drug menace, the Jammu and Kashmir Police took action on Thursday by confiscating two vehicles linked to drug peddlers in the city of Srinagar.
A police announcement detailed, “In line with our commitment to eliminate the drug problem within society, police in Srinagar have seized two vehicles obtained through the profits of illegal narcotics operations. The vehicles include a Corolla with registration number DL4CNE 6086 and a BMW with registration number JK01AF-0047, as part of case FIR No. 36/2024 under section 8/21 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Chanapora. The accused, Mudasir Ahmad Wani, son of Gulam Rasool Wani, is a resident of Stadium Colony, Chanapora.”
Mudasir Ahmad Wani had been apprehended a few days earlier in connection with a drug case.
The confiscation of these vehicles, acquired through unlawful means via narcotics trafficking, was carried out under the provisions of the 68 NDPS Act, according to officials.
The police reiterated their dedication to eradicating the drug menace and dismantling the networks that support narcotics trafficking.
On the previous day, law enforcement also confiscated a property valued at over Rs one crore belonging to a drug peddler.
Just two days prior, a residential property worth Rs 5 crore was seized in Anantnag district, connected to another drug peddler.
Investigations by the police have indicated that these drug peddlers obtained their properties through the illicit trade in narcotics and psychotropic substances, as stated by officials.
Security forces have also pointed out that the money generated from drug smuggling is often used to fund terrorism by enticing youths to join various terrorist groups.
In light of the increase in terrorist activities following the peaceful Lok Sabha and Legislative Assembly elections, the Army, security forces, and police have launched a robust anti-terrorism initiative aimed at targeting terrorists, their over-ground workers (OGWs), and sympathizers.
Lt Governor Manoj Sinha has presided over high-level security review meetings in the past two weeks, during which explicit directives were issued to the security forces to thoroughly dismantle the terror ecosystem within the union territory.
