Srinagar, Nov 27 (NationPress) The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) announced on Thursday that it has initiated a significant case regarding disproportionate assets (DA) against Malik Tahir Gani, the Director of State Motor Garages, following a covert verification.
According to the ACB, an undercover inquiry revealed extensive properties, bank holdings, and commercial assets supposedly far surpassing the known income sources of Malik Tahir Gani, currently serving as the Director of State Motor Garages.
Following specific information, the ACB conducted a secret verification regarding the allegations of substantial disproportionate assets held by Malik Tahir Gani, son of Abdul Gani Malik, who resides at H. No. 185-A, Sanat Nagar, Srinagar, and is presently assigned to Q. No.55-C, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu.
The verification uncovered that while serving in various roles such as ARTO Anantnag and Pulwama, as well as his current position, Malik Tahir Gani amassed significant assets including plots, houses, shops, shopping complexes, and bank accounts, under his name and that of his family members, which appeared highly disproportionate to his declared income.
“Based on the findings, a prima facie case of criminal misconduct has been established against Malik Tahir Gani, in accordance with the offenses punishable under U/S 13(1)(b) r/w Section 13 (2) of the PC Act 1988,” stated the ACB.
The agency reported that a formal case, FIR No. 11/2025, was registered at P/S ACB Central for further investigation.
“During the investigation, search warrants were secured from the Honorable Special Judge Anti-Corruption Jammu for conducting searches,” the ACB added.
The ACB teams subsequently executed searches at four different locations, including residential properties in Sanat Nagar, Srinagar, Hyderpora, Srinagar, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, and official premises in New Plot, Jammu.
“In the course of the search, incriminating materials were recovered and seized as evidence in this case. The investigation is ongoing,” concluded the statement.
