Does JD-U Need RCP Singh?
Synopsis

- Political speculation surrounding RCP Singh continues to grow
Patna, Jan 21 (NationPress) Bihar's Transport Minister Shrawon Kumar asserted on Wednesday that the Janata Dal-United (JD-U) has no necessity for leaders such as RCP Singh, a former Union Minister.
During a press interaction, Kumar highlighted that RCP Singh had recently been casting doubts on Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s health and governance capabilities.
“Just yesterday, he was claiming that Nitish Kumar was ill and incapable of performing his duties,” Kumar noted.
The minister proceeded to accuse leaders from the party RCP Singh subsequently joined of suggesting they would exit politics if they succeeded in winning even 25 seats.
“They were intent on undermining Nitish Kumar. What sudden necessity has arisen for such individuals now? We have no use for those who were once attempting to bring down Nitish Kumar and are now desperate to seek his approval,” Kumar remarked.
Shrawon Kumar also raised questions regarding RCP Singh’s political journey.
“He started his own party, which could not withstand the test of time. He later joined the Jan Suraaj Party, whose leaders also aimed to undermine Nitish Kumar. After Nitish Kumar’s party secured 85 seats, the opposition was entirely decimated. With what ideology does he now wish to return and ally with Nitish Kumar?” he queried.
Previously, on Sunday, JD-U MP and Union Minister Lalan Singh had vocally opposed RCP Singh’s potential return to the party.
“Who is RCP Singh? Such individuals have no place in the JD-U. They diminished the party’s strength from 72 seats down to 42. It was the dedicated workers of JD-U and the people of Bihar who helped Nitish Kumar rise from 42 to 85 seats,” Lalan Singh stated.
Ex-Union Minister and former JD-U national president RCP Singh, who has been attempting to regain his political standing in Bihar, recently hinted at a possible comeback to the JD-U.
A few days ago, when queried by the media, he referenced his long-standing association with Nitish Kumar and claimed he had never truly departed from the party.
When directly asked about rejoining the JD-U, he said: “Time will tell.”
Following his remarks, political speculation heightened regarding a possible return. However, senior JD-U leaders have now firmly dismissed his re-entry, asserting that there is no room in the party for leaders who, as they allege, weakened it previously.
