New Delhi, April 20 (NationPress) US Vice President J.D. Vance, along with his Indian-origin spouse Usha Chilukuri Vance and their three children, is poised to touch down in India on Monday for a four-day official visit as part of his larger international itinerary.
This marks the first visit by a sitting US Vice President to India in more than a decade, the last being Joe Biden's trip back in 2013.
After arriving in Italy on Friday, Vice President Vance is scheduled to land at Air Force Station, Palam, New Delhi on Sunday evening.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will host Vance for discussions and dinner at his official residence, 7 Lok Kalyan Marg, on Monday evening.
The agenda is anticipated to include the long-awaited India-US bilateral trade agreement and seek methods to fortify strategic and economic relations between the two democracies. National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar are expected to participate in the discussions.
Additionally, Vice President Vance will be accompanied by a five-member senior US delegation, which includes representatives from the Pentagon and the State Department.
Following his commitments in the capital, Vance will proceed to Jaipur on April 21, where he will remain until April 24. On April 22, he will tour the famed Amer Palace in the morning, where a traditional Rajasthani welcome is planned for him and his family.
They will wear Jodhpuri 'safas' and experience folk performances, puppet shows, traditional attire, and local cuisine during their two-and-a-half-hour visit. The palace will be closed to the public during this time, with 12 trained guides assigned to assist and uphold protocol.
Rajasthan Police personnel, including undercover officers, have been deployed, and a 20-vehicle motorcade will facilitate the movements of the US Vice President. A specially-equipped ambulance with senior medical professionals and emergency medical facilities has been arranged as part of the VVIP protocol.
Later that same day, Vance will give a keynote address at the US-India Business Summit held at the Rajasthan International Centre.
The summit will feature participation from leading Indian and American officials, with Vance likely to outline his vision for enhanced bilateral trade and investment.
On April 23, Vice President Vance will fly to Agra aboard a US Air Force aircraft to visit the Taj Mahal. After spending around three hours at the monument, he will return to Jaipur the same afternoon and visit the Jaipur City Palace.
He is scheduled to meet Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and Governor Haribhau Bagade later on April 22.
Vice President Vance will depart for Washington at 6:30 a.m. on April 24, concluding a visit expected to strengthen the growing partnership between the United States and India on both regional and global fronts.
