Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Ranchi, March 13 (NationPress) In a significant initiative aimed at upgrading the state police and reinforcing the law enforcement framework, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Friday initiated the rollout of 1,485 new vehicles for the police department and laid the groundwork for 12 cutting-edge police stations throughout the state.
The Chief Minister commenced the vehicle rollout from the premises of the Jharkhand Assembly.
The new fleet comprises 636 four-wheeled patrol vehicles (Mahindra Bolero BS-6 models) and 849 two-wheelers, designed to boost the police's mobility and response efficiency.
Officials noted that the state government has approved a total of 1,255 patrol vehicles and 1,697 two-wheelers for the police force, marking this as the initial phase of their deployment.
Among the 636 Bolero vehicles that have been allocated, 614 have been dispatched to various districts, while the remaining vehicles are assigned to Quick Response Teams (QRTs) and other specialized units.
The Police Headquarters indicated that the introduction of these vehicles will significantly enhance the patrolling system in both urban and rural locales, facilitating quicker emergency responses and better policing overall.
In conjunction with the vehicle distribution, the Chief Minister also virtually laid the foundation stones for 12 modern police station facilities to bolster police infrastructure in the state.
The planned high-tech police stations will be built in Hazaribagh, Bokaro, Deoghar, Dhanbad, Garhwa, Giridih, Palamu, East Singhbhum, Gumla, Ranchi, Dumka, and Chatra districts.
A notable aspect of these police stations is the integration of four specialized police units under one roof, which is anticipated to simplify the process for citizens to file complaints and access various police services without needing to visit multiple locations.
During his address, CM Soren emphasized that the modernisation of the police force is a primary focus for the state government, aiming to establish a safe and secure environment for all citizens.
He stated that the government is committed to bridging resource gaps and fortifying the police force through enhanced technology, equipment, and logistical support.
Senior officials from the Home Department and Police Headquarters were present at the event.
