Ranchi, Sep 10 (NationPress) The remains of Jharkhand’s valiant son, Agniveer Neeraj Kumar Chaudhary, who tragically lost his life in the line of duty at Siachen, arrived at Birsa Munda Airport in Ranchi on Wednesday evening.
Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar and Chief Minister Hemant Soren expressed their condolences by laying wreaths on the coffin adorned with the national flag.
Describing the loss as “heart-wrenching,” the Governor stated, “The martyrdom of Deoghar’s courageous son during the avalanche incident at Siachen glacier is profoundly saddening. I extend my deepest sympathies to his family.”
Chief Minister Soren emphasized the pride the entire state feels for Neeraj’s sacrifice. “He laid down his life defending our homeland. The government is committed to supporting his family and will ensure all possible assistance,” he pledged.
Earlier in 2023, the Jharkhand Cabinet resolved that families of martyred Agniveers would receive financial support along with a government job for one family member. Officials mentioned that Neeraj’s family would be beneficiaries of this aid.
At just 24 years old, Neeraj had joined the Indian Army as an Agniveer two-and-a-half years ago, realizing his lifelong aspiration of serving the nation. He was deployed in one of the world’s most challenging terrains at Siachen in Ladakh and was martyred during an avalanche incident last Sunday.
Originating from Kajra village in Deoghar district, Neeraj was the pillar of his farming family. His father, Anil Chaudhary, expressed immense pride despite the irreplaceable loss.
“He has sacrificed his life for the nation. That is the highest honor,” the family shared.
Upon hearing the news of his martyrdom on Monday, the village fell into mourning. Residents flocked to his home to console the family. Villagers remembered him as a disciplined, patriotic, and promising young man.
“His name will forever be inscribed in golden letters,” remarked the elders of Kajra.
A large turnout is expected for his final rites, which will be conducted with full state honors.
