Jamshedpur, Aug 14 (NationPress) A man in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand reportedly took the life of his wife due to suspicions of an affair before ending his own life by jumping in front of a train, according to officials on Thursday.
On Thursday morning, residents alerted the police about the lifeless body of Shilpi Mukherjee, 35, the spouse of Saheb Mukherjee, 40, found inside their home in Namotola under the jurisdiction of Parsudih police station. Upon arrival, authorities discovered her body, which was unclothed and sustained multiple stab wounds.
Shilpi was working as a nurse at a community health center in Potka, while her husband was employed by a contracting firm at Turamdih Mines in Sundernagar.
A handwritten note, purportedly penned by Mukherjee, along with a mobile phone, was recovered from the location where Shilpi's body was found.
The note accused Shilpi of having “betrayed” him, stating: "Thus, I am compelled to take her life. She hid the fact that she had previously been married twice and frequently engaged in video calls with a colleague named Vivek, which led to our ongoing disputes," the note read.
Mukherjee also claimed in his note that Shilpi's family had threatened his life when he confronted her about her relationship with Vivek.
In his mobile status and the note, he expressed deep sorrow over the alleged deception, stating: "If a wife prefers to communicate with another man via video call, life becomes unbearable -- but why should I bear the brunt of this?"
He further expressed concern for his elderly parents and requested that the “truth” be revealed to them.
After the note was discovered, police initiated a search for Mukherjee and subsequently located his body on a railway track near Nandup in Sundernagar.
Both bodies have been sent for a post-mortem examination, and law enforcement officials confirmed that an investigation is ongoing into this shocking incident that has disturbed the local community.
