Jammu, Jan 24 (NationPress) The Lieutenant Governor (LG) of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), Manoj Sinha, officially opened the 'BRICS Youth Council Entrepreneurship Run-up Event' at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) located in Jammu.

During his speech, LG Sinha praised the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, the Global Counter Terrorism Council (GCTC), IIM Jammu, and all collaborating departments for establishing a dynamic platform that allows innovators, aspiring entrepreneurs, and youth leaders to present their creative business concepts and entrepreneurial projects.

The LG emphasized the transformative initiatives spearheaded by the government through the Department of Industries & Commerce, which have redefined the innovation and entrepreneurship landscape, empowering the youth of the Union Territory (UT).

“In recent years, J&K's industrial landscape has experienced an unparalleled growth, encouraging a culture of innovation, research & development, and scientific progress. I aspire to see our youth rise among the elite entrepreneurs of the nation, contributing significantly to its advancement,” the LG remarked.

Sinha noted that the dedicated efforts and policy reforms implemented by the government have transformed J&K into a thriving startup hub.

He also outlined key initiatives such as Mission Yuva, aimed at creating a supportive business environment for the enterprising youth of J&K.

Sinha mentioned that reforms are underway in the education sector, focusing on equipping youth with the skills necessary for Industry 4.0.

“We are dedicated to policies that foster incubation centers and enhance resources and support for establishing new startups. I encourage our youth to dream big, commit, and help in developing a dynamic J&K, propelling its growth to unprecedented levels,” he stated.

LG Sinha further stressed the importance of addressing the disconnect between academia and industry to tackle future challenges.

He emphasized that human resources must possess the skills demanded by the market and industries.

He articulated that the youth entrepreneurship mission is crucial not just for India, but also for the global landscape, as countries from both the Global North and Global South look towards their significant demographic advantages to overcome the major developmental challenges of the 21st century.

Discussing the industrial revolution occurring in the UT of J&K, the LG noted that the outcomes of the Central Sector Industrial Development Scheme are becoming increasingly evident.

He highlighted the pivotal role of educational institutions and youth in advancing India as a knowledge economy and realizing the vision of a Viksit Bharat.

Professor B.S. Sahay, Director of IIM Jammu, shared the institution's vision to cultivate youth as business leaders and entrepreneurs.

A comprehensive presentation outlining the primary goals of Mission Yuva was also delivered during the event.
