J&K Lieutenant Governor Honors Langar Groups & NGOs for Their Support During Amarnath Yatra

New Delhi, Dec 15 (NationPress) J&K Lt Governor (L-G) Manoj Sinha on Sunday honored the members of Langar Organisations and NGOs who contributed to community kitchen and other services for pilgrims during Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2024.

During a ceremony at the Resident Commissioner’s Office in New Delhi, the L-G expressed his appreciation for all the stakeholders who provided selfless service and significantly contributed to the well-being of devotees throughout the pilgrimage.

“The individuals and organizations we honor today are true contributors to the traditions of selfless service,” he remarked.

He noted that the successful execution of Yatra 2024 was due to the collaborative efforts of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, several government departments and agencies, J&K Police, security forces, sewadars, voluntary organizations, and civil society groups.

The L-G also reaffirmed the Shrine Board’s commitment to ensuring quality facilities for pilgrims to enhance their pilgrimage experience.

“The Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra symbolizes our rich spiritual and cultural heritage. The mission of the Shrine Board and all those involved in Langar Seva is to ensure that the holy pilgrimage remains divine and free of hassle. It is our collective duty to devote our energy to this noble cause,” he stated.

He further discussed infrastructural developments, including road widening and upgrading various facilities to ensure a safe and smooth pilgrimage.

He remarked that additional cloakrooms were made operational at Holy Cave and Lower Holy Cave. A total of 122 Langars provided complimentary food and prasad to the yatris throughout Yatra 2024 along both pilgrimage routes.

This comprised 47 Langars/NGOs along the Baltal axis, 14 in the Sangam & Holy Cave area, 59 on the Pahalgam axis, and two in Srinagar Yatri Niwas.

Social organizations also participated by offering free fodder service at Pahalgam and Poshpathri, launching a complimentary battery car service on the Baltal route, and distributing safety helmets to yatris in areas vulnerable to rockfalls.

The L-G noted that disaster preparedness and decongestion measures for the Holy Cave and Lower Holy Cave were effectively implemented before the Yatra 2024 began.

To ensure the safety and convenience of both pilgrims and langar sewadars, langars were established only in designated safer zones at Holy Cave and Lower Holy Cave, and langar sewadars were permitted in the yatra area only with valid RFID cards.

He also stressed that all langar organizations and voluntary groups should strive to deliver high-quality service to the pilgrims.
