Key Takeaways
New Delhi, March 29 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended an invitation to the public to engage with the 'Gyan Bharatam App', a platform designed to collect information on manuscripts from all over India, encouraging citizens to showcase elements of various cultures and share their insights.
The Gyan Bharatam App is a digital initiative launched by the Ministry of Culture aimed at identifying, documenting, and safeguarding India’s vast manuscript legacy.
This application acts as the mobile interface for the Gyan Bharatam Mission, a nationwide program dedicated to establishing a thorough digital inventory of manuscript repositories across the nation.
During the 132nd episode of his monthly radio show 'Mann Ki Baat', the Prime Minister remarked, "India’s true power is in its vast population. Today, I’m excited to introduce an initiative that embodies the essence of public involvement from our citizens. This endeavor is the 'Gyan Bharatam Survey', which is deeply connected to our rich culture and heritage. Its goal is to compile data about manuscripts from across the country."
PM Modi encouraged individuals to take part in the survey via the Gyan Bharatam App, where users can also contribute any manuscripts or related information.
"I am thrilled that thousands of manuscripts have already been submitted by individuals. For instance, Chaw Nantising Longkan from Namsai in Arunachal Pradesh has contributed manuscripts in Tai script," he stated.
The Prime Minister further noted that Amit Singh Rana from Amritsar has shared manuscripts in Gurumukhi script, tied to the Sikh tradition and Punjabi language. He also highlighted contributions of manuscripts inscribed on palm leaves from various institutions.
"From the Abhay Jain Library in Rajasthan, ancient manuscripts etched on copper plates have been shared, while Hamis Monastery in Ladakh offered details about valuable Tibetan manuscripts," he added.
PM Modi announced that the survey will run until mid-June. "I encourage everyone to bring forth the facets of your culture and share them with us," he urged.
