New Delhi, Sep 11 (NationPress) Tomorrow, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the Gyan Bharatam Portal, guiding discussions aimed at rejuvenating the nation's manuscript heritage during the international conference focused on traditional knowledge.

This three-day event, which commenced on Thursday, is themed 'Reclaiming India's Knowledge Legacy through Manuscript Heritage'.

The Gyan Bharatam Portal will serve as a crucial digital platform to enhance the digitisation, preservation, and accessibility of manuscripts, according to an official announcement.

The conference has gathered prominent scholars, conservationists, technologists, and policy experts to explore methods for revitalising India's unmatched manuscript heritage and integrating it into a global knowledge framework, as stated.

Participants will have the opportunity to view an exhibition of rare manuscripts and engage in scholarly discussions on vital topics such as manuscript conservation, digitisation technologies, metadata standards, legal frameworks, cultural diplomacy, and the interpretation of ancient scripts.

On World Sanskrit Day, celebrated on August 9, PM Modi underscored the significance of the language in safeguarding India's ancient wisdom and cultural legacy.

In a post on X, he remarked on the enduring importance and worldwide influence of Sanskrit.

"On Shravan Poornima, we celebrate World Sanskrit Day. Sanskrit is a timeless reservoir of knowledge and expression, impacting numerous fields. This day serves as a moment to honour everyone globally engaged in learning and promoting Sanskrit," he stated.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister acknowledged the government's strides in revitalising and popularising Sanskrit over the past decade.

"In the last ten years, our Government has made significant efforts to promote Sanskrit, including establishing Central Sanskrit Universities, Sanskrit Learning Centres, granting support to scholars, and the Gyan Bharatam Mission for manuscript digitisation. This has greatly benefited many students and researchers," he added.

Echoing similar thoughts, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed on X: "The divine language Sanskrit embodies the essence of India, the echoes of sages, and is an eternal source of boundless knowledge. It is the foundation of our tradition, wisdom, and global intellect. Let us commit on World Sanskrit Day to preserve, promote, and use this nectar-like language in our daily lives."
